Structure

Our programme spans eight terms over two academic years, transitioning from RQF level 4 to RQF level 5 by the third term and advancing from RQF level 5 to RQF level 6 by the sixth term. It provides a distinctive fusion of academic depth and industry immersion, integrating practical and professional skills to fully equip you with the tool to forge a successful career in the fashion, fashion media, and luxury lifestyle industries.

Fashion Culture & Trends

Explore how historical, social, and cultural developments shape fashion trends. This module provides you with an opportunity to learn about fashion cultural theory, the historical evolution of fashion and the political, economic, societal and technological factors that influence fashion past and present.

Fashion Image & Visual Communication

This module focuses on the power of visual storytelling in fashion. You’ll learn practical skills in image making, including photography, film, collage and illustration. During the module, you will examine the importance of image as a communication tool
and learn about early pioneers and current innovators in the field of fashion image making and communication.

Introduction to Fashion Media

Gain an understanding of the fashion media landscape, from magazines to digital platforms. This module gives you an overview of Fashion Media in all its forms. During the module you will learn about the fashion media landscape and its evolution since inception to how it operates today as a multimedia sector of the wider media industry. You will learn about the content that goes into a magazine and a variety of different media formats both print and digital.

Fashion Marketing & Promotion

Discover the strategic role of marketing and promotion in fashion. You’ll learn how fashion brands use marketing to communicate with their audiences, and why marketing fashion products differs from other consumer goods and services. You will examine fashion marketing theories and techniques, using a specific market sector as the basis for a case study.

Fashion Retail Environments

This module examines the physical and digital spaces where fashion is sold. You’ll explore how retail environments are designed to enhance customer experience, including store window design, store layout, visual merchandising, and the integration of e-commerce.

Fashion & Society

This module invites you to analyse and consider some of the critical issues affecting contemporary fashion. The module looks at fashion as a local and global entity, with a focus on inclusivity, diversity and other ethical issues. You’ll get a chance to explore how fashion reflects and influences societal values and the role it plays in driving social change.

Fashion Branding & Creative Communication

Learn how fashion brands establish their identity through creative communication. This module covers branding strategies, brand storytelling, and how to craft cohesive messaging that resonates with target audiences.

Brand Identity & Design

Focus on the creation of a brand identity, from logos and packaging to overall aesthetic. You’ll develop skills in visual design and learn how to translate brand values into engaging and consistent visual elements. You’ll learn how brand design principles are applied across a range of media and explore historical and contemporary graphic communication practices.

Professional Development Portfolio

Prepare for your internship by writing your CV, creating cover letters and building a professional portfolio to showcase your talents and skills. This module allows you to reflect on your knowledge and skills gained so far during the course, and to apply for your internship. You’ll develop your personal branding and consider how to stand out in the job market.

Creative Option Module:

Fashion Styling

Develop your skills in styling for editorials, campaigns, and personal clients. During this short creative module, you’ll get an opportunity to develop your styling skills as well as understand the many different facets of the modern fashion stylist today. As part of this module, you will be able to experience your own studio shoot, complete with a professional fashion photographer, hair and make-up artist and model.

Fashion Illustration

Practise the art of fashion illustration, learning techniques for sketching, digital rendering, and visualising fashion concepts. You will get a chance to experiment with different media, draw from life and undertake still life fashion drawing. You will learn
from practising illustrators who will guide you through a range of techniques for
drawing, painting, collage and digital illustration.

Fashion Journalism

Learn the craft of writing for fashion media, from articles to opinion pieces. This module covers storytelling techniques, interviewing skills, and how to develop your own voice and unique point-of-view in fashion journalism.

Fashion Industry Placement

Gain real-world experience with a four-week placement in a fashion or media company. This module gives you insight into the day-to-day workings of the industry, providing practical skills and networking opportunities to boost your career.

Consumer Behaviour & Insight

Understand the psychology behind fashion consumers’ purchasing decisions. This module explores how brands use consumer insights to inform marketing strategies, and how to analyse consumer behaviour trends to predict market shifts.

Collaborative Industry Project

Work on a live industry brief with a leading fashion or lifestyle brand. This module allows you to apply your skills to real-world challenges, collaborate with industry professionals, and develop creative solutions that align with brand goals.

Business Option Module:

Fashion Buying & Product Strategy

Learn the business of buying in fashion, from trend forecasting to product development. This module focuses on how buyers curate collections that resonate with consumers and meet market demands. You’ll explore how ranges are researched, planned, sourced and developed by the buying team – and most importantly how buyers manage their budgets and achieve financial targets.

Fashion Business & Entrepreneurship

Explore the fundamentals of launching a fashion business, including business planning, financial management, and market positioning. This module is ideal for aspiring fashion entrepreneurs. You’ll develop an idea for a new fashion related business, write a business plan with financial projections and create pitch presentation to sell your idea.

Fashion Magazine & Media Publishing

Dive into the world of fashion and media publishing, learning about magazine production, editorial strategy, and the challenges of digital publishing in today’s media landscape.

Digital Strategy & Interactive Media

Examine how digital technologies and interactive media are shaping the fashion industry. This module covers topics such as e-commerce, social media marketing, and the role of technology in enhancing consumer engagement. You’ll learn about user experience (UX) and use digital skills to mock up and produce concepts for interactive user experiences including apps and augmented reality filters.

Fashion for Positive Change

Explore how fashion brands can drive positive social and environmental change. This module covers topics such as sustainability, ethical production, diversity and inclusion, and how fashion can be a force for good.

Independent Research Project

Conduct an in-depth research project on a topic of your choice within fashion communication or industry practice. This module allows you to focus more deeply on an area related to your final independent project, and to develop your research and critical thinking skills.

Professional Practice Portfolio

This module helps you refine your professional portfolio, showcasing your academic and industry work to potential employers. You’ll also learn how to navigate the job market and prepare for your career in fashion.

Independent Final Project

Undertake a self-directed project that showcases your expertise in fashion communication or industry practice. This capstone project allows you to bring everything that you have learned together and to demonstrate your creative and professional skills to potential employers.

Accreditation

Accrediting Body & Award Structure

This programme holds international recognition as a degree qualification accredited and conferred by The University of Buckingham. It is structured as eight 10-week terms spread across two academic years, transitioning from RQF level 4 to RQF level 5 in term three, before progressing from RQF level 5 to RQF level 6 in term six. The programme offers a unique blend, combining academic rigour and industry engagement with practical and professional skills, drawing on the expertise of Vogue’s wide network of industry professionals.

Credits

The degree carries a value of 360 credits within the UK’s Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF) at level 6, equivalent to 180 European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits.

Tuition fees may increase annually in response to market conditions.

Deposit Payment & Instalment Options

To secure your place on the course, a deposit of £3,000.00 is required within 14 days of receiving your offer. Please note, the deposit option is unavailable for bookings made within six weeks of the course start date where full course fees are required.

Students have the option to pay the tuition fee in instalments over the duration of the course. International students are required to pay the first instalment of the course fee in full and in advance to obtain the CAS number necessary for Student Visa purposes.

Student Loans, Scholarships, & Bursaries

Students studying at Vogue College of Fashion are currently ineligible for student loans.
