Vogue Summer School: Fashion Media
Discover how the Vogue brand operates from the inside out and learn the key characteristics of print and digital media formats.
This course is suitable for students interested in a career in fashion and lifestyle journalism, who are keen to learn about fashion through an editorial lens.
During the course, students will research and pitch ideas for magazine issues, build digital stories for a variety of different media platforms, and create work that they can add to their portfolios. The course will look at the work of experienced writers and editors and explore the language of fashion writing. Students will discover how the Vogue brand operates from the inside out and learn the key characteristics of print and digital media formats.

Course Topics
Students will learn about styling, content creation, journalism and creative direction from industry experts whilst working as a team producing a mock mini-issue of Vogue and its online and digital accompaniments.
Topics include:
- Introduction to Fashion Media
- Fashion Storytelling: Pitching and Building a Story
- The Editor and the Publisher
- What is a Media Brand Today?
- Content and Entertainment
- Fashion Critics, Influencers and Forecasting
Site Visits
Visits will include a combination of trips to major New York City art museums and galleries, as well as designers’ studios and other places related to fashion, including the esteemed Vogue HQ.
Site visits may include:
- Vogue HQ
- Spring Studios
- The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art
- Brooklyn Museum
- Museum of Arts and Design
- Flagship stores along the Garment District on Fifth Avenue
- Boutiques in fashion districts such as Williamsburg, Bushwick, Chelsea,
- East Village and Noho
- Designer studios and atelier
Guest Speakers
Students will hear firsthand from fashion industry experts and fashion business professionals about the topics that shape our understanding of the fashion, media and luxury lifestyle industries.
Guest speakers may include:
- Fashion stylists and photographers
- Fashion industry professionals in a variety of roles
- Fashion critics and journalists
- Museum curators and educators
Admissions
Vogue Summer School is open to high school students (grades 10-12 and Graduating Seniors based on the grade the student is entering in the Fall 2025 school year). Students must be 15 years old by the first day of their term. All students applying to Vogue Summer School for the first time are required to complete an online application. Returning students do not need to reapply. Our online application can be completed in a few basic steps. As students work through their application, they may save their progress and return to the application before final submission.
