Vogue’s 5 Days of Creative Direction course is an intensive programme that provides an introduction to the role of a Creative Director in the fashion industry. In just one week, you will learn the essential skills needed to concept and plan a creative vision for a brand or a concept from the initial idea to a tangible outcome.

Guided by Vogue’s network of industry professionals, you will learn how to use cultural insights to come up with a vision for a creative concept. You will also learn how to turn your vision into a visual identity using core branding principles as well as distinctive outcomes that meet new or emerging audience demands. A key to being a good creative director is the ability to communicate your ideas in a persuasive manner to others which you will also explore as part of the course.

The programme connects students with industry professionals including those working for Vogue and Condé Nast, providing a unique opportunity to learn from some of the best in the business. By the end of the course, you will have developed your own creative concept, bringing your ideas to life under the mentorship of seasoned industry experts.

Structure

This five-day programme is designed to give you an intensive look at the world of creative direction in fashion. Through workshops, presentations, and practical exercises, you will gain hands-on experience in directing a fashion campaign.

You’ll explore key elements like concept development, visual storytelling, and building a fashion campaign. Throughout the week, you’ll engage in hands-on workshops, learn the principles of creative direction and discuss contemporary creative practices with your peers and industry professionals. The programme wraps up with a final project presentation, allowing you to apply everything you’ve learned.

Modules

The course covers key areas of creative direction to provide you with a well-rounded understanding of the role and its impact on fashion marketing and branding:

Ideation & Developing a Creative Direction Concept

This session introduces the process of ideation and concept development. You’ll learn how to take an initial idea and shape it into a cohesive creative direction, focusing on the early stages of building a strong foundation for a project.

Moodboarding & Idea Visualisation

Explore the tools and techniques for translating ideas into visual representations. You’ll create moodboards to effectively communicate your creative vision, helping to refine and present concepts visually.

Developing Concepts & Products

Gain insight into how creative concepts evolve into tangible products. You’ll focus on aligning creative ideas with product development, ensuring the end result reflects the original vision.

Defining the Look & Feel of a Concept

Learn how to establish the overall aesthetic of a project by defining its visual identity. This session focuses on crafting a distinctive look and feel that aligns with the core concept.

Pitching Your Ideas

Discover strategies for presenting creative concepts to clients or collaborators. You’ll develop skills in articulating your ideas clearly and convincingly, focusing on delivering compelling pitches.

Insight into the World of Vogue

Get a behind-the-scenes look at Vogue’s approach to creative direction, offering a deeper understanding of how the iconic publication operates. This session provides valuable industry insight from a leading fashion authority.

This programme is awarded by Vogue College of Fashion. It is structured as a five-day programme. The programme combines academic rigour and industry engagement with practical and professional skills, drawing on the expertise of Vogue’s wide network of industry professionals.

Credits

The course carries no credits within the UK’s Regulated Qualifications Framework (RQF).

This short programme contains tasks, experiences and opportunities designed to equip you with the introductory skills, knowledge and practice crucial for starting to build a successful career in fashion from personal development to professional practice.

Within the course content, there will be career and professional development elements and activities available to you such as meeting industry professionals, learning about different career journeys and understanding potential careers opportunities.

To secure your place on the course, the tuition fee must be paid in full at the point of booking. Please note, there is no deposit option available for bookings.

Students do not have the option to pay the tuition fee in instalments for this course.

Student Loans, Scholarships, & Bursaries

Students studying at Vogue College of Fashion are currently ineligible for student loans.
