Vogue Summer School: Fashion Styling
The course introduces styling and fashion photography, and explores how to create, conceptualize, and complete a shoot.
How are fashion images are created? Starting with the process of fashion editing and content creation, you will develop ideas for a studio-based shoot, experience a live demonstration with a team of industry professionals, before going on to work collaboratively in a group to create a set of fashion images.
The course introduces styling and fashion photography, and explores how to create, conceptualize, set up and successfully complete a shoot. Students will learn how to recognize key influencers, how cultural references inspire artists, and how styling is used in different areas of the industry. It is an interactive course, with students engaging with others on the course in collaborative activities that aim to enhance styling techniques and creativity.

Course Topics
Students will learn from fashion academics, industry experts and Vogue staff. They will also work in small teams to produce a portfolio of images.

Site Visits
Visits will include a combination of trips to major New York City art museums and galleries, as well as designers’ studios and other places related to fashion, including the esteemed Vogue HQ.
Site visits may include:
- Vogue HQ
- Spring Studios
- The Costume Institute at The Metropolitan Museum of Art
- Brooklyn Museum
- Museum of Arts and Design
- Flagship stores along the Garment District on Fifth Avenue
- Boutiques in fashion districts such as Williamsburg, Bushwick, Chelsea, East Village and Noho
- Designer studios and atelier
Guest Speakers
Students will hear firsthand from fashion industry experts and fashion business professionals about the topics that shape our understanding of the fashion, media and luxury lifestyle industries.
Guest speakers may include:
- Fashion stylists and photographers
- Fashion industry professionals in a variety of roles
- Fashion critics and journalists
- Museum curators and educators
Admissions
Vogue Summer School is open to high school students (grades 10-12 and Graduating Seniors based on the grade the student is entering in the Fall 2025 school year). Students must be 15 years old by the first day of their term. All students applying to Vogue Summer School for the first time are required to complete an online application. Returning students do not need to reapply. Our online application can be completed in a few basic steps. As students work through their application, they may save their progress and return to the application before final submission.
