This course offers a comprehensive introduction to the essential elements of fashion styling, blending theory with hands-on experience. Participants will explore how magazines operate, gaining insights into the behind-the-scenes processes that bring fashion stories to life.

Under the guidance of industry professionals, students will learn to analyse the work of stylists, mastering skills such as shopping for the perfect pieces, creating impactful moodboards, and executing successful photo shoots. The curriculum is tailored to fit the age and experience of young aspiring stylists, ensuring a supportive and engaging learning environment.

Throughout the course, students will visit showrooms, study various collections, and discover the historical context of fashion productions. They will also learn the fundamental techniques for combining garments and accessories, empowering them to develop their own unique styles. The course culminates in a professional photoshoot, where students can showcase their creativity and practical skills, setting a strong foundation for future endeavours in the fashion industry.

This course not only equips students with essential styling skills but also fosters creativity, confidence, and an understanding of the fashion landscape. It’s the perfect opportunity for young individuals to take their first step into a dynamic profession and explore their passion for fashion.

Structure

The programme spans three modules, blending theory with practical skills. It includes live group sessions, company visits, and hands-on projects, giving you real-world exposure to the industry.

You’ll be guided by an industry expert through interactive lessons and workshops, receiving personal feedback to help you apply what you learn.

Students will engage in interactive workshops, gain insights from industry experts, and collaborate on creative projects. This hands-on approach ensures they develop the foundational skills needed for a future in fashion styling.

Modules

This course is structured around three key modules that combine theoretical knowledge with practical application. Each module is tailored to help students explore various aspects of fashion styling, from understanding industry fundamentals to executing actual photo shoots. Through hands-on workshops and collaborative projects, students will build essential skills that will serve as a foundation for their creative journeys in fashion. The modules include:

Fundamentals of Styling

In this module, students will dive into the foundational elements of the fashion industry. They will learn about influential fashion icons and their impact on style trends. Discussions will cover the workings of fashion brands, providing insights into their operations and marketing strategies. Students will also explore red carpet events, analysing how stylists curate looks for high-profile appearances. By the end of this module, students will have a solid understanding of the landscape of fashion and the role of a stylist within it.

From Creative Concept to Shooting

This module focuses on translating creative ideas into tangible outcomes. Students will explore current fashion trends and learn how to create moodboards to visually communicate their concepts. They will gain practical skills in the shopping process, learning how to select garments that align with their styling vision. This module emphasises the importance of research and preparation in the styling process, preparing students for the challenges of real-world projects.

Practical Case Study

In this hands-on module, students will engage in workshops that simulate real-world styling scenarios. They will participate in a moodboard workshop to further refine their creative concepts. Students will also experience the complete workflow of a photo shoot through pre-workshop activities and live shooting sessions. This includes working on still life arrangements and editorial shoots, as well as preparing for red carpet looks. By the end of this module, students will have practical experience in executing a styling project from start to finish, allowing them to showcase their unique styles in a professional setting.

This programme is spread over one week and is awarded by Vogue College of Fashion. The programme offers a unique blend, combining academic rigour and industry engagement with practical and professional skills, drawing on the expertise of Vogue’s wide network of industry professionals.

Credits

The programme does not carry any European Credit Transfer System (ECTS) credits.

To secure your place on the course, the tuition fee must be paid in full at the point of booking. Please note, there is no deposit option available for bookings.

Students do not have the option to pay the tuition fee in instalments for this course.

A refund of the place reservation rights may only be requested in the event of impossibility of attendance due to a justified serious illness or other unexpected reason of comparable severity, as well as due to force majeure.

Students do not have the option to pay the tuition fee in instalments over the duration of the course. However, in some cases, instalments may be allowed before the course starts.
